As Catholic Christians, we believe it is important to recognize the lives of our loved ones here on Earth, acknowledge we are a part of the communion of saints in life and death, and pray for our loved ones' souls as they pass on to eternal life with Christ. If you would like to plan a Christian funeral and burial, please contact our Pastor.
Funerals at st. bridget's
The prayers of our parish are with you as you grieve the loss of your beloved family member. We are here to support you and walk with you through all the details of planning a funeral liturgy with your family.
1. Please call Fr. Dave on the emergency line when your loved one passes away, emergency line: 612-840-8378
At this time, you will set a date for the funeral, and a planning meeting with Fr. Dave and our Director of Pastoral Care.
2. The planning meeting
You can bring whoever you wish with you to plan the funeral. The meeting usually lasts about 2 hours. We will help you choose readings and music for the liturgy. You will also have the opportunity to tell our pastor abour your loved one so he can get to know a little about your family member.
3. The Funeral
Our staff and volunteer team will support and guide your family throughout the day of the funeral. We will answer your questions and walk you through the visitation and funeral itself.
4. Funeral Lunch
St. Bridget’s has a wonderful group of volunteers who prepare and serve a hot meal to families after the funeral liturgy. We typically serve a hot pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw, chips, pickles, desserts, coffee, and water.
The parish will continue to pray for you and your family. You are welcome to call if you have more questions or concerns. May the grace and love of God surround you and comfort you in the days and weeks ahead.
Pre-Planning your Funeral
If you are interested in pre-planning your own funeral call the Director of Pastoral Care. A meeting can be set up to talk about your wishes and plan your funeral liturgy.
