Respect Life—Freedom– We as Christians have a responsibility to persuade others that human life is a gift from God over which we have no authority, from the moment life is given at conception until life’s natural end. If society continues to reject the true meaning of freedom-the freedom to choose life-we will move closer to a world in which power, not truth will prevail. In such a world human life will always be at risk! Only in a world that acknowledges that life is a Divine Gift will human beings and human societies have a chance to flourish. Our Community Caring for Life Committee is an initiative of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis to respond to the needs of women dealing with a crisis pregnancy. Our CCL committee is responsible for supporting our Baby Blanket program, offering help to mothers in need. The CCL also informs the parish on pro-life programs that are already in place, as well as articles of importance on these issues.
The Community Caring for Life Committee meets the 2nd Monday of
each month at 6:30pm in the education wing conference room.

Baby Blanket/Hannah’s Arms Volunteer of the Month: Kathy Weygand
Kathy has been a member of the Community Caring for Life Committee for about 6 years and is the Nursery Supervisor for the Hannah’s Arms program. Once a month, without knowing how many children are coming (typically 1-28), she coordinates and trains volunteers for the nursery. She then plans age-appropriate activities for the children. Kathy oversees the nursery, making sure volunteers are in every corner and interacting with the children, and that all of the babies are safe and well cared for. Kathy and her husband decided to volunteer when they joined St. Bridget’s to become more involved in the parish and get to know people in the church. Kathy has known Theresa Williams, Baby Blanket Coordinator, for a long time and wanted to be part of Theresa's dream of helping mothers and children in need. Kathy likes engaging the kids and sharing ideas with parents with what they can do with their kids. She volunteers about 6-8 hours a month and likes being part of a program that makes a positive difference in people’s lives. Kathy shares the value of volunteering and recommends others to volunteer at the Baby Blanket/Hannah’s Arms programs.
